Young driver research: The Youth Action Policy Association (YAPA) and the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) are collaborating on an exciting new project - Driving You Crazy - Young Driver Research Project. The aim is twofold: to collect data on how the 120-hour requirement for learner drivers impacts on the lives of young people, and to train four young people in research. As part of the project, four Youth Research Volunteers (age 16 - 24) will be recruited from four areas across NSW, including inner Sydney, Blacktown, Hunter, and Northern NSW. YAPA will organise and finance professional training for the volunteers in how to conduct research (to be held in Sydney), and support them as they implement the research skills they learn to conduct focus groups and interviews in their area. This project offers young people from inner Sydney, Blacktown, Hunter and Northern NSW an invaluable opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and work towards positive change for young drivers. To receive an application pack, or to find out more about the project please contact Emily May, YAPA Policy and Training Officer on (02) 9281 5522 (Ext. 5), policy@yapa.org.au.
