This seminar is relevant to the whole community, and in particular parents, teenagers and people who work with young people. The seminar is delivered by an expert from the Black Dog Institute and will provide an overview of what depression is, how to spot early warning signs,  understanding the risk factors and the role of personality in relation to depression, what to do and how to build personal resilience. The night will include light refreshments and live music. To register your attendance, email yes and the number of people to: f.mortimer@blackdog.org.au or call 02 9382 8203 . Creating chage online: Are you aged 16 to 30 and a member of any of these, or other, online communities for social change? If you are, we'd like to invite you to be part of a study looking at the relationship between getting involved in the community and your wellbeing. Over the next 12 months, we will be tracking a cohort of up to 1000 young people aged 16 to 30 who are members of online social change organisations or communities like ActNow.com.au, Heywire, youthcentral, the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and Vibewire and asking you questions about your involvement in the community, your health and wellbeing. Your responses will help researchers, policymakers and practitioners to better understand the health status of young people who participate in these online communities and the nature of their involvement in the community. The survey is now live and you can participate by visiting http://ches.buseco.monash.edu.au/index.php?sid=93551. By completing the survey you'll go into the draw to win Apple iPods (Shuffle and Nano) and iTunes vouchers. Everyone who completes all three surveys over the 12 month period will receive a $45 gift voucher.

Consultation on the Australian Curriculum: If you are currently at secondary school, or have recently left school, we want to hear your views on the draft Australian Curriculum. Young people have an important role to play in the development of the draft Australian Curriculum and should be able to express their opinions on this important issue. The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is overseeing the development process and is also responsible for the management of assessment and reporting at a national level. To date, ACARA has engaged in extensive consultations with the education community, including parents, teachers, principals and professional organisations, and will continue to draw upon the considerable curriculum expertise of the states and territories when developing the Australian Curriculum. The draft senior secondary Australian Curriculum (years 11–12) focusing on the four initial learning areas of English, mathematics, science and history was recently released for public consultation. For the first time, all Australians can provide feedback on the curriculum to be taught in our schools. As the Australian Curriculum will be affecting school students across Australia, input from current students as well as the wider youth sector (recent school leavers, youth industry workers, etc) will be invaluable to the consultation process for the Australian Curriculum.

After a few months of looking for a lead guitarist, Codie and Jack decided to recruit Codie's step brother Luke De Ruiter on lead guitar. The band practiced covers for a while and wrote a few originals while searching for a drummer. At the end of 2009, Vengeful Tendancies found a drummer (Isaiah Olig Grennan) and started playing originals. Four Degrees Hotter originated many years ago, and since then have only moved forward with the three original members, Adam Lysaght, Garth Prentice and Tiffany Sullivan and bass guitarist Kurt Prentice.
